Sherwood Girls Lacrosse
Overview:
The SYL girls youth lacrosse program is open to both new and returning lacrosse players. The primary objective of the program at this level is to develop important skills, know the rules, learn to work together as a team, cultivate a love for the game of lacrosse and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
Time Commitment:
There will be an estimated 2 practices and 1-2 games per week. Practices are typically conducted at Snyder Park. There will be times when a game may be scheduled during a practice. Practice will be held twice a week starting early March and continue through the end of May.
Registration:
Registration opens the beginning of the year and closes end of Feb. Method of payment is via credit card only through our website. Please note a current US Lacrosse membership through season end is required at time of registration.
Teams:
League Play is offered for first through 8th grades and broken up into the following:
1/2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8
Volunteer Coaches:
Each team will be coached by parent volunteers who have experience coaching at this level. Please consider getting involved as a Team Parent so the coaches can focus on coaching, rather than administrative concerns. No experience necessary - just a big heart.
We will be conducting coaching clinics in February. Parent participation is a key to assuring that your player learns the game of lacrosse in a safe, fun, and organized environment. Please help out by being a parent coach, assistant coach, parent helper, or team parent.
Equipment:
Every player must have the following equipment each week:
- Girls Lacrosse stick
- Eye goggle protection
- Adequate shoes for artificial turf field (sneakers or cleats okay)
- Mouth guard
Note: SYL offers a rental program that offers Girls stick and eye goggles for the season. Please register online for rental gear if interested.
