WHEN CAN MY CHILD START TO PLAY?

Sherwood Youth Lacrosse offers programs from Pre-K-8th grade. Fiddlesticks teaches stick skills for boys and girls Pre-K & Kinder with practices 1x/ week. Both of our boys and girls leagues run 1st-8th grade. All of our leagues are divided by grade level- 1st/2nd; 3rd/4th; 5th/6th; and 7th/8th. Practices are twice a week plus an additional skills/drills practice. There are 1-2 games are on Saturdays lasting about an hour.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOYS & GIRLS LACROSSE?

There are multiple physical and technical differences which separate boys and girls lacrosse, which ultimately create different versions of the game.

A major difference is how much contact is allowed.

GIRLS' LACROSSE

Girls lacrosse is just as much fun to watch and play, but players rely more on stick skills and agility and have little to no contact. 1/2 Girls play with 4 players & no goalie, 3/4 plays with 8 players & no goalie, 5-8 has 11 field players and a goalie. The rules of the game are to keep girls moving and have fun.

BOYS' LACROSSE

Boys lacrosse is a helmeted / padded and progresses from minimal contact (grades 1/2 & 3/4) into a full contact sport (grades 5/6 & 7/8). It is played with 6 players per side during younger years, and 10 players per side when older. It is a fast paced, team oriented game that is fun to play and watch.
